Buyer’s Guide: Find FontShop at TYPO San Francisco

Join the FontShop team at TYPO San Francisco this week, April 10-11, and take part in the Anagram Scavenger Hunt. Clues will be given via Twitter and Instagram to find the FontShopper with the missing character. Everyone participating in the game gets a prize! First person to find the missing character gets something extra, and we’ll share the glyph with all the attendees via Social Media.

Buyer’s Guide: New Product Pages

Our last installment of the new product page series is here. With features that incorporate elements from the Fonts Like This Tab , the Related Tab will help you find the perfect alternate. Let’s go over the two options you have in the tab; Similar and FontList.

The Similar section will recommend alternate fonts that have related qualities. For popular typefaces, like Neue Helvetica, you may see suggestions that that are curated by FontShop’s experts first.

If the product you selected appears in a FontList, then that list will show in Related Tab’s FontList section.

Device Fonts is the foundry arm of Rian Hughes’ studio. With over 200 fonts, the collection covers various genres with styles that can be categorized as playful to serious. Check out Battery Park, Paralucent, and Dazzle on FontShop.

  • Desktop use supports up to 5 CPUs in 1 location.
  • You can take a digitized copy of the font software to a commercial printer or service bureau to print documents only if the commercial printer or service bureau has a license to use the font software.

Restrictions

  • You cannot share the font with users that do not have a license for the same font.
  • You cannot embed the font software into a Website or Application.

Basic EULA Rights

  • Desktop use supports up to 5 CPUs in 1 location.
  • You can create a non-editable Workflow PDF to your printers as long as the font is subsetted and is distributed on a one-to-one basis, over a closed network .

Restrictions

  • You cannot share the font with users that do not have a license for the same font.
  • You cannot embed the font software into a Website using @font-face.
  • You cannot embed the font software into an Application.

Buyer’s Guide: New Product Pages

Welcome to the second part of our new product page series. Last week we reviewed two features, the sample text tool bar and buying options, on FontShop. This week we’ll take a look at the Glyph Tab using Gordon by Letterbox as an example.

The Character Set option allows you to view the all the glyphs available in a specific font. A small arrow will appear in a glyph’s box if there are alternates characters for that glyph. You can click on the arrow to preview the alternates.

The Language Support option will show you all of the languages that the font will support. Typically fonts will support common languages like Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, and Spanish.

Now you know where to find out if a font has contextual alternates and supports a specific language. If you have additional questions you can always email FontShop’s Support Team for help.
