Buyer’s Guide: MVB Fonts and Sweet

MvB Fonts was started by type designer Mark van Bronkhorst in 1991. In between handling custom type projects for clients ranging from individuals to large corporations, this small foundry continues to develop and expand its range of font offerings. MvB’s Sweet Collection consists of engraved lettering styles from the 20th Century. Sweet is a registered trademark of Markanna Studios Inc. Check out MVB Solitaire, MVB Calliope, Sweet Sans, and Sweet Gothic.

Basic EULA Rights

  • Desktop use supports up 1 CPU and a single printer.
  • You may embed the fonts into a read-only PDF.

Restrictions

  • You cannot share the font with users that do not have a license for the same font.
  • You cannot embed the font software into a Website or Application.

Pinterested: Helvetica Alternatives

Love it or leave it, Helvetica is a classic. This week’s Pinterest board offers some typefaces from the Grotesque genre that offer something different from Helvetica — whether it’s style, warmth, or extra features like small caps, figure alternates, and additional widths. Buyer’s Guide: Elsner+Flake

Veronika Elsner and Günther Flake founded their company EF Designstudios in 1985, after ten years of freelance experience in the area of type design, typography, and digitizing of fonts and logos. Elsner+Flake typefaces are designed to meet the demanding requirements of the design community. Check out TV Nord, Ballantines Script, and Bank Sans.

Basic EULA Rights

  • Desktop use supports up 5 users at a single geographical location.
  • You may embed the font in a read-only document that does not allow unlicensed parties to edit the document or create a new document using the font.

Restrictions

  • You cannot share the font with users that do not have a license for the same font.
  • You cannot embed the font software into a Website or Application.
  • You may not modify or rename the font software.

Buyer’s Guide: Suomi Type Foundry

Suomi Type Foundry is a company dedicated to creating high quality typefaces. The company was founded by Tomi Haaparanta, who has been designing typefaces since 1990. Tomi Haaparantas fonts are already distributed by Linotype, Monotype, ITC, T-26 and Psy/Ops, and in January 2004 he decided to set up his own font foundry.

Basic EULA Rights

  • Desktop use supports up 5 CPUs at 1 location.
  • You may use the licensed fonts to create images on any surfaces where the image is a fixed size.

Restrictions

  • You cannot share the font with users that do not have a license for the same font.
  • You cannot embed the font software into a Website or Application.
  • You cannot modify the font software.

Buyer’s Guide: CastleType

CastleType, an independent digital type foundry, has been supplying designers with quality fonts since 1990. CastleType has a very diverse collection, including many art deco revivals, classic type styles inspired by ancient sources, non-alphabetic decorative fonts, as well as many CastleType Originals. Basic EULA Rights

  • Desktop use supports up 5 CPUs at 1 location.
  • You may use the licensed fonts to create images on any surfaces where the image is a fixed size.
  • You may use the licensed fonts to create EPS files or other scalable drawings provided that such files are only used by the household or company licensing the font.
  • You may take the font software to a printer, output bureaus, design agencies, and the like, as long as the font is reserved only for the licensee’s own use.

  • You cannot share the font with users that do not have a license for the same font.
  • You cannot embed the font software into a Website or Application.
  • You cannot modify the font software.
