I agree. At my office I use only a desktop. A desktop app would be more useful to me than an ios app.

Does this app work on a desktop PC? I don’t have an iPad yet (embarrassed grin) but it’s too large to download to my iPhone (?) and I’d love to access it from my desktop.

You are right, Charlie: The search leads to an undefined situation in cases you’ve described. We will solve this with the next update. Your second question: We could only offer foundries that cooperate with. Their typefaces need to be on our servers so that we could deliver type specimen on a legal way. Unfortunately HF-J does not support the FontBook pool.

Just downloaded your Font Book app. What a pleasure!

I do have a couple of things, though…

First, there’s an interesting bug: if you search for a font (I was looking for Whitney – more about THAT later) and it is not found, and you click the “x” in the search field to look for something else, you actually get stuck. You cannot get away from that screen without typing something in the search field: there should probably be a “done” button on the keyboard. Just a thought.

On the question of Whitney, I was just wondering why Hoefler & Frere-Jones isn’t included in your (amazingly long!) list of foundries.

Andrew, you are right that the app reacts unstable when defining a favorite (tapping the green star). This problem is solved (and we added some comfortable UI grips). Version 3.0.1 is waiting for Apple’s approval since Dec 20th 2012.
